The rich, deep aqua and phthalo blue colors in the water of this painting have been so hard to capture in the photos...  The water is showing a beautiful interpretation of all of the wonderful swirls and pattern play with swimming koi fish. This painting was all about finger painting and palette knife work. Koi fish are so fun to paint, but making them larger than I usually do took more layers, scraping, and yet more layers to create the intensity of all of their wonderful color patterns.
