I called this painting done, and was ready to post it. Next to my computer is sitting a new book, "Ornithography," which illustrates birds and explains each bird's symbolism. I glanced at it and realized my painting needed a pair of cardinals.

We have regular cardinal visitors in our yard. And the male is always a flash of bright red. But you always know that the beautiful but more subtle little female is close by.

By the way, my new bird book says the cardinal symbolizes "confidence." :)
